Welcome back to Term 2!
Term 2 looks to be another exciting and busy one for all of us. We have 2 long weekends this term, with ANZAC day and Queens birthday falling within the next 11 weeks. This is also the term that brings winter ,and all the colds and illnesses that come with it. Please make sure you take care of yourselves and your families. Stay home and get well so that you can get better sooner. In class this term we will be taking on a number of new learning challenges. For reading we will be taking part in the AVAILL programme (http://www.availll.com/home/). We will be continuing with our co-operative classroom teaching for Mathematics, with the focus this term shifting to multiplicaiton. Initially this term we will be research our past and looking into ANZAC history. Later on we will be looking at "Our Land that Changes" - investigating the physical make up of our land. We will explore our land, and develop an understanding that our landscape is continually changing, even though they may think it is the most constant aspect of all their surroundings. We also have so many other up coming events/activities: * Yr 6 Rugby Fun Day 24/4/15 * Halswell Quarry Trip 4/5/15 * Week 5/6 Year 6 Cycle Safety * Winter sport at Hagley starts in Week 3 * Week 11 Interviews/Conferences Home learning this term: It is expected that the students will read or be read to for at least 15 minutes everyday, practice their spelling words and work on their basic facts and times tables knowledge. We are all looking forward to having an amazing term and making the most of every opportunity! |
